The NIST Framework and Roadmap for Smart Grid Interoperability Standards draft that was published in September of 2009 includes a conceptual model that includes key stakeholders in the Smart Grid. These include:
- Markets
- Bulk Generation
- Transmission
- Operations
- Distribution
- Service Provider
- Customer
The last six: Bulk Generation, Transmission, Operations, Distribution, Service Provider and Customer, along with their inter and intra-domain interfaces are the focus of the JDS Management Software consultancy in the Smart Grid area. For the past 5 years, our focus in these domains has been on Applications, Frameworks for Applications, Communication Systems for the Distribution environment and Service Delivery and Management Systems for the Distribution environment itself. A key concern in all of this is how these different elements of the Smart Grid can be combined to create the dynamic, secure system that people envision.
